Again…Walt Whitman quote…did I mention it was a gay neighborhood?
Awwww man, this makes me miss my old city, my old neighborhood, my old Metro entrance. I love the feeling of going down through a vertical cylinder and then into a smaller canted one. And coming out of it, the sky opening up.
The quote is from Leaves of Grass and it’s about caring for the suffering. It was installed a few years ago as a dedication to HIV/AIDS caregivers.
It’s not creepy. It’s wonderful.
Thus in silence in dreams’ projections,
Returning, resuming, I thread my way through the hospitals;
The hurt and wounded I pacify with soothing hand,
I sit by the restless all dark night – some are so young;
